I WON A bunch of them back in 1986…. 500 pens to be exact (if my memory serves me correctly) as the fourth prize winner of a contest. I remember the school announced it during an assembly and the pens were shared with schoolmates.
I found a bunch of them today. No, these weren’t from the last century! They belong to M. Every year she gets them from her school as part of their stationery provision. Evidently, she hardly even use them, as the bulk of her school and homework is done on the computer.
The pens won’t go to waste, for sure. They will go into the “To Give Away” bin while I spring clean. 🙂
The pens I found today.
While my 500 pens have all long gone, I still have this certificate as a fond reminder.

LITTLE EM’s BEEN out of action the past three days. While she sleeps soundly after taking her medication, Mommy’s having sleepless nights due to her condition.
I DREAD THIS… the kids’ final day in school whenever we have to uproot in the middle of a school term. I’ve had to do this with Big M before (link) and now with Little Em.
Even though Little Em has been in kindy for just a little more than a year, the bond she’s created with the teachers and friends – not just those in her class, but with the children in other classes – has been heartwarming.
In that short year, she’s learnt to read and write; picked up new languages; gone for an educational trip (link); enjoyed all the science experiments and water plays in school; celebrated her friends’ birthdays as well as her own; sat through two assessments with commendable results; and performed in her first school concert (link). She’s had a great learning experience and a wonderful time in kindy!
So it’s naturally hard to say goodbye…
Little Em’s final school day on 28 February 2014 was like any other typical Fridays… physical exercise at the start of the morning; lessons in class and computer time as well (seen here next to Isabel).
Little Em presented little farewell gifts to her classmates, including Khairin who was her first friend when she first joined the kindy last year; Khairin’s little sister joined them in school this year.
(L) Little Em overcome with emotions, seen here being consoled by principal Teacher Elaine; (R) Back at home, Little Em cuddled her new bear soft toy presented by Teacher Elaine.
Appreciation and hugs to all the teachers… (L-R) Teacher Elaine; Teacher Chiang, Teacher Sherry and Teacher Nina. We will miss you all!
Other sweet mementos from kindy.
