THESE WERE TAKEN on our first driving tour in Accra city on a warm and clear Saturday, 19 April 2014.
The Independence Arch on Independence Square, erected in 1961 in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s visit and to commemorate Ghana’s independence in 1957 (same year as Malaysia); Ghana is the first African country to achieve independence from the British.
Ghana’s National Stadium, located just next to the Independence Square.
Ghana flags fly high along Independence Square, Marine Drive, Accra.
A vibrant and colourful sight on Oxford Street, Osu. Osu is a busy commercial district, likened to Malaysia’s Bangsar for its shopping, restaurants and entertainment outlets.
A welcome sight – Colonel Sanders in Osu – one of the four KFC outlets in Accra. Too bad there’s no McD yet. Its alternative is Papaye (described as the McD of Ghana).
Still in Osu… indoor shopping.
… and outdoor shopping.
