More May Bazaars

BAZAARS AND MAY seem to go hand in hand. I remember partaking in the annual bazaar of the Asia-Pacific Women’s Group (APWG) in Moscow, Russia, held in May, for three years.

In Memory of Friends

EVERY TIME I look at old photographs of friends/acquaintances/colleagues, I often wonder where they are and what they are doing now.

Thanks to the internet and social media, I have been able to find some online, read updates about them and also re-connect with a few.

In my recent search for acquaintances of CWA whom I made while in Washington DC more than a decade ago, I learnt sadly that two had passed on.

Mrs. Sharon Arneaud was the wife of the former Ambassador of Trinidad & Tobago to the US. Online news reported that she was involved in a boating accident while on vacation on Gasparee Island back home on 19th September 2009. She was 64. I have had some privileged moments with Sharon who was the CWA President in 2000 and I was involved in the committee as the membership secretary.

Lady Sheila Butler was the wife of the former Ambassador of Bahamas to the US. She passed away due to illness on 20th August 2013. She was 69.

May they rest in peace.

AFTER TWO AND a half years in HK, it was time to move on…

Two and a half years with the lovely ladies, with many wonderful memories in between.

Bersamamu Ros

EVERY NOW AND then, someone comes into our lives and leaves an impression; Ros is one such person whom I first met in Hong Kong in 2009.

Catatan hari ini khas untuk Ros. Walau apapun cakap Ros, hakikatnya, Ros tetap seorang pengawai, saya sekadar suri rumah.

ros_6

Terima kasih Ros kerana menjemput kami beraya di rumah Ros (21 Sept 2009); beraya lagi bersama-sama di pejabat (26 Sept 2009).

ros_7

Terima kasih Ros sekeluarga kerana sudi meluangkan masa bersama-sama meraihkan Tahun Baru Cina di rumah kami (20 Februari 2010).

ros_8

ros_9

Turut menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan pada 2009 dan 2010, di Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong.

ros_10

          Sehingga kita bertemu lagi…

2003 Tokoh Guru, Puan Sri Aisha Shamsuddin

SPEAKING OF TEACHERS, I met 2003 Tokoh Guru recipient Puan Sri Aisha Shamsuddin sometime in that same year. I had attended a course in INTAN and she was present at the closing ceremony, in her capacity as a committee member of PUSPANITA.

It then dawned on me that she was the same person who was guest of honour at my school Prefects’ Installation way back in 1986! She was then the Penolong Pengarah Pelajaran, Wilayah Persekutuan.

A year later, I saw her again when she attended the Majlis Tertinggi PUSPANITA Kebangsaan meeting hosted by WP on 24th May 2004.
